The landscapes of Réserve faunique de Port-Daniel, dotted with lakes and rivers, conceal a singular variety of wildlife. You can reach this discreet little corner of paradise without even straying off the beaten track, since it's only 8 kilometers from the sea. Twenty-five lakes and a few streams are home to brook trout, while the Rivière Port-Daniel is home to Atlantic salmon runs. The reserve's forests are home to many mammals, including moose, white-tailed deer, bear, hare, beaver, fox, fisher, wolf-hawk, otter, marten and porcupine. You can also observe marine, marsh and forest birds, including great blue heron, black-crowned night heron, ruffed grouse, spruce grouse and a wide variety of ducks.
The welcome station is located on Route 132, 8 km from Port-Daniel, and is open from late May to mid-October (variable hours).
Lodging: serviced campground (30 sites), Étoile ready-to-camp tents, cabins (kayak, canoe and barbecue included).
Activities: hiking, wildlife observation, wild fruit picking, fishing by the day or with accommodation, small game, black bear and moose hunting. Rental of fishing rods, rowboats, electric motors, paddleboards, kayaks and personal flotation devices. Sale of bait, firewood, permits and access rights for hunting and fishing.
