SAGUENAY-ST. LAWRENCE MARINE PARK
Quebec's first marine conservation area, with a mandate to conserve species and ecosystems.
This marine park is the first marine conservation area in Quebec. With a surface area of over 1,200 km² (expansion project underway), it covers the Bas-Saint-Laurent, Charlevoix, Côte-Nord and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean regions, with a mandate to conserve the species and ecosystems of part of the St. Lawrence Estuary and Saguenay Fjord. A veritable treasure trove, both in terms of flora and fauna and in terms of its grandiose landscapes.
