LA CITÉ DE L’ÉNERGIE
Ranked as one of Quebec's top attractions, the Cité de l'énergie, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022 with great fanfare, is a vast, immersive museum and tourist complex located on the banks of the Saint-Maurice River. The site includes a 115-metre observation tower offering breathtaking views of the city and region (get out your camera!). The site also features the Planète Énergie exhibit, a dynamic exhibition with 20 interactive terminals, and a multimedia show (immersive experience). Visitors are invited to explore the delicate global balance between nature, energy and human society. The tour also includes a look inside Shawinigan-2, a hydroelectric power station still in operation, as well as the Cité de l'énergie and Hydro-Québec's collection of industrial machinery at the former Northern Aluminum Company (N.A.C.) plant. In the evening, the ilia show is presented in a covered, heated, revolving outdoor amphitheatre. Other attractions: Prime Minister Jean Chrétien's Canada in the World Museum, a pontoon cruise on the Saint-Maurice River, a guided tour of the city aboard a tramway-style bus, the Synergy Gardens (over 450 varieties of flowers, shrubs and trees). Spend wonderful family time at Cité de l'énergie, the immersive museum where you're part of the adventure!
