It connects the harbour park with Champlain Park, a square with ponds and trees framed by the state-of-the-art concrete structures of the cultural center and City Hall. The Maison de la culture, built in 1967 to celebrate the centennial of Canadian Confederation, houses a theater, a library and an art gallery. Across the square stands the cathedral with its copper-clad bell tower, a Gothic-inspired monument with Westminster elements.
