BEAUHARNOIS HYDROELECTRIC PLANT
One of the world's largest and most powerful run-of-river hydroelectric power plants of Hydro-Québec in Beauharnois.
Opened in 1932, it is one of the largest hydroelectric power plants in the world and Hydro-Québec's most powerful run-of-river power plant. With 38 generating units, aligned over nearly one kilometre, it is the equivalent of three superposed Eiffel towers! The guided tour will introduce you to its Art Deco-inspired architecture, the phases of its construction, the stages of electrification in the Montréal region and its alternator turbines.
