No one to help us with our bags. Had to drag them up a flight of stairs. Parking beside dumpster only. Reservations made for our honeymoon...room was over the kitchen - could hear everything. When we told the staff it was noisy - their response was you should hear how noisy it is in room xxx. Service knocked on door at 7 am to see if we wanted clean linens. Very cramped quarters. Never again.
Stopped here for an overnight on our way back from Quebec city. Hotel is very clean and well-kept owner and staff are very friendly. Yes, they speak English very well. Reason for picking this location as it was the location for Louise penny’s three Pines book and novel. The Town in Self is worth the visit alone such a cute little town in the eastern province of Quebec.
A quaint but charming hotel on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a hotel originally built in the 1870s. The hallway floorboards were foot-wide pine! Be prepared to walk upstairs because there’s no elevator. It sure gave me a sense of accomplishment! Other than that, the place is impeccably clean and quiet. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but there are great options in the neighbourhood.
Dining tables are short. If you're 6ft or taller your legs won't fit under the table. Chicken burger lacked sauce which made it taste dry. Chips are unsalted, and taste worse than frozen store bought. Salad was the best part of the meal with a small amount of vinegar. Looked like only 1 person was serving, and she was incredibly busy by herself.
Went to have a bite to eat and a drink but it felt like we were not wanted. Our waitress (Jen), took our food order after leaving us with a glass of water but not even asking if we wanted to order drinks.
We were left to our selves and when asking if certain things were available we received a sharpe NO, not no sorry or offered an alternative, just no!
There were 4 of us and we all felt that we were not welcome at all.
I have been visiting Knowlton for 17 years and never been treated like this at this venue. In this economy I would have thought a little more care would be taken but alas not according to Jen.
Very basic room for the price. No coffee nor tea in the rooms. Nice confy, clean beds. Smart TV very old movies only.
We had made a reservation for brunch and it took almost 40 minutes before getting our food. There were people at 2 tables besides ours, restaurant was pretty empty. Food was extremely dissapointing. My french toast came with very dry bread barely any egg mixture around it. Very very dry and no taste. The toast were very dry as well, the fries had no taste. I will not go back to this place. I have experienced far better in the area for a lower price.

Customer experience failed.
