OLD SEMINARY OF SAINT-SULPICE
The Vieux Séminaire de Saint-Sulpice is the oldest building in Montreal's Ville-Marie district. Built between 1683 and 1685 by François Dollier de Casson, it is the only surviving 17th-century building in the region. The main building comprises a first floor with a square main courtyard, bordered by two side wings and enclosed by a wall with a decorated portal. There is also a noble second floor and a mansard roof with two additional levels. The Vieux Séminaire de Saint-Sulpice is a rare example of 17th-century Parisian architecture in New France. It is owned by the Priests of Saint-Sulpice of Montreal.
