Erected between 1919 and 1922, the Clock Tower marks the entrance to the port and serves as its emblem. Designed by Montreal engineer Paul Leclaire, its mechanism was manufactured in England by the Gillett and Johnston company, which made it a replica of the famous Big Ben in London. It was designated a "Classified Federal Heritage Building" in 1996. The 192 steps of the building are widely photographed by tourists and locals alike, and can be climbed during the summer months, offering a unique view of the old city and the river.

J'y étais en hiver, elle était fermée, mais on peut y monter en été. L'effort fourni par 192 marches à gravir est récompensé par une belle vie sur Montréal et le fleuve.
