LACHINE CANAL NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE
On foot or by bike, what a pleasure it is to stroll along the Lachine Canal and then settle down on a terrace at the end of the day!
A waterway that connected Great Lakes cities to the rest of the world for 134 years, it played a key role in the industrialization of Montreal. Large companies immediately set up shop there, giving rise to the workers' cities, now Montreal neighbourhoods. After being abandoned, part of this waterway was finally redeveloped into a park and a bicycle path now runs along the canal from the Old Port to Lachine.
