Located in the heart of downtown, this brick building dating from 1912 houses a veritable breeding ground for everything that can be done in contemporary art in Montreal. At the entrance, its long white corridors and period chandeliers give a rather strange first impression. But once you get upstairs and walk through the door of one of the many spaces occupied by galleries and other artist-run centres, you immediately get to the heart of the matter. In total, nearly 30 galleries, art centres and workshops have taken up residence in Belgo.
