We just used the beach for the day, didn't stay overnight. The beach is very nice: clear and "warm" temperature (july-august), easy to get used to. There are lifeguards if you stay near the centre of the beach, in an area very well marked. You can also use the rest of the beach, which is quite long and can accommodate a large number of people. Just 1.5h away from Ottawa, it's a nice alternative to a 3-h drive to Sand Banks, with comparable water quality, better services (there are lifeguards, also ice cream and better-kept washrooms), but no dunes. It is busy, and very family oriented - if you mind the noise of kids playing, walk to one of the corners of the beach, where there's way less people (but no lifeguards). There's a day-use fee of $14 (tax included) per person, charged at the entrance. There's also a second beach to the east - "Place de L'est", just across the Riviere de la Petite Nation, outside of this park and with a different access, but we haven't tried it yet.
