OMEGA PARK
Safari in a park in Montebello, a good place to discover nature, wildlife and history of Quebec and Canada.
Parc Oméga is an open window on the nature, wildlife and history of Canada and Quebec, from the province's First Nations to the colonization and agriculture of yesteryear. It's a place where young and old alike will find themselves immersed in a natural world that was first unspoiled by wildlife, then gradually inhabited by their ancestors. A visit to the park begins with a 12-kilometre safari in your own car or in a screened cart, from which you can safely approach and feed certain wild animals, including deer. Several walking areas allow you to get out of your car and enjoy the many activities and attractions on offer: the First Nations Trail offers a one-kilometre stroll decorated by the works of Algonquin artist Denis Charette. In addition to the symbolic decorations at the entrance, totem poles evoking Quebec's eleven Aboriginal nations can be found along the trail. The many trout in the lake can be fed.
Halfway along the trail is Pioneer Land, the heart of Parc Oméga. Here you'll find a number of attractions and activities, as well as a bistronomy restaurant offering a gourmet experience with boreal notes. From here, there are many walking trails (snowshoeing in winter), including a path leading to the two-storey wolf observatory: an open-air section offering a veritable natural theater, and a glassed-in section for up-close immersion with a pack of gray wolves. Here you can meet an interpreter-guide to learn all about this legendary species. The trading post recalls the coureurs des bois and trappers who penetrated the wilderness in search of furs. As for the Camp de Bûcheron, it highlights the era of the log drive and the tales and legends of Quebec. You'll also find a magnificent souvenir store brimming with handcrafted products.
Other on-site activities include an aerial course, children's play areas, an old-fashioned farm, a bird-of-prey demonstration and much more.
On-site accommodation: the park also offers wilderness accommodation to extend the fun, in tipis, Wi-tents, log cabins and stilt houses (ready-to-camp formula). Pod habitats, with their minimalist style, also offer year-round stays. Finally, for a truly unique experience, you can sleep with the wolves, a safe and unique lodging option in North America, right in the middle of the pack.
