In urban centres, such as Quebec City, points of interest are generally open year-round, with a restricted schedule outside the summer season (e.g., closed on Mondays). In the regions, however, they are often seasonal, with an opening period that runs from May to October. If they are open every day in the summer, the schedule is often reduced from Patriots' Day (Monday preceding May 25) to June 24 and from Labour Day (1st Monday in September) to Thanksgiving (2nd Monday in October).

There are no more variable schedules than those in the restaurant world. Not only do they vary according to the season, but also several times during the same season. Restaurants in large cities such as Quebec City tend to have a relatively fixed schedule throughout the year, while in the regions, some establishments even close their doors out of season. And as everywhere, weekends and holidays are synonymous with great crowds, especially for the famous brunch served until 2 or 3 pm. It also means that Quebecers eat earlier than Europeans. Therefore, the opening hours of the kitchens are not very late, except for pub-type restaurants.

Gourmet shops (pastry shops, chocolate shops, etc.), cafés and tea rooms are generally open every day, from morning until mid or late afternoon (some may be open until evening, especially cafés). However, there may be some days off in the smaller shops or in the regions, usually at the beginning of the week. The schedule may also be reduced in the off-season. As for bars, many of them open as early as 11am or noon, especially in the city. Otherwise, you can expect them to open mid to late afternoon at the latest. Opening hours vary greatly from one establishment to another in Quebec City. On weekdays, they open in the morning generally between 9 and 10 am and close between 5 and 6 pm (7 or 9 pm on Thursday and Friday). On weekends, they open between 9am and noon and close at 5 or 6pm. In Old Quebec, however, the hours are longer because of the tourist industry, both in summer and winter. In the Quebec City area, hours may vary from one city to another and are often reduced out of season, or even closed altogether (although it is generally possible to make an appointment). In cities and small towns, there may also be closing days, usually Sunday and/or Monday.
Get out Québec
There are not really any nightclubs in Quebec City, some of which have closed in recent years. As for activities with friends (movies, billiards, bowling, go-karting, escape games, etc.), the hours vary greatly depending on the type of establishment. There are also a few casinos in Quebec, including the Charlevoix casino in La Malbaie (opening at 9 or 11 a.m., closing late). For the performing arts (music, comedy, theatre, etc.), the annual programming is concentrated outside the summer season, mostly in the evening.
