Bellevue House National Historic Site, Kingston.
The home of John A. MacDonald (1815-1891), a lawyer with a brilliant career ahead of her, as she led this Scottish-born man to the office of Prime Minister of Canada. The house and gardens, animated by interpreters in period costume, have been restored to the taste of the 1840s, largely as they were. At the time of writing, Villa Bellevue was temporarily closed due to restoration work (free entrance to the site during the work).
