The city benefits from a new state-of-the-art LRT (light rail transit) system. Line 1, known as the Confederation Line, is 12.5 kilometers long and runs from Blair Station in the east to Tunney's Pasture in the west. It includes a 2.5-kilometre tunnel through the downtown core and 13 stations. It opens early in the morning and closes between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. depending on the day. West of downtown, Line 2, known as the Trilium Line, runs for 8 km from Bayview Station in the north to Greenboro in the south (closed for extension).
