Cathedral designated as a monument of historic interest by the National Capital Commission and the Corporation of the City.
Designated a landmark in 1978 by the National Capital Commission and the Corporation of the City of Ottawa, the Ottawa Cathedral, with its two silver spires surrounding a life-size statue of the Virgin Mary, was built between 1841 and 1858, and restored in the late 1990s. Masses are held in English, French and even bilingual. Guided tours are also available by reservation (temporarily suspended).
