Museum located in the heart of the city, between Parliament Hill and the Fairmont Château Laurier.

Located in the heart of the city in the oldest stone building between Parliament Hill and the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, this museum explores the stories of a thriving city and its people from the early days of Bytown to present day Ottawa. In addition to the permanent exhibition (audio guide included with admission), the museum hosts a few temporary exhibitions each year. Also on site: a heritage garden and a café (hot and cold beverages, snacks, sandwiches, ice cream, etc. - some products are seasonal).

Petit musée
Ce musée n'est pas très grand mais plaira aux enfants car il est plutôt ludique, et on y apprend pleins de choses sur l'histoire du Canada.

Je trouve que ce petit musée, situé à proximité immédiate du canal Rideau, est très intéressant et accessible à tous, y compris les enfants. Il se décompose en deux parties. Au rez-de-chaussée, se trouve une brève exposition gratuite consacrée à la construction du canal et des différentes écluses. Le premier étage est payant (prix modique) mais renferme, selon moi, la partie la plus intéressante du musée. Il retrace, grâce à de nombreux objets exposés, l'histoire d'Ottawa depuis sa fondation par John By jusqu'au moment où cette ville est désignée comme capitale du Canada. J'ai trouvé cette exposition passionnante car elle était à la fois ludique (un espace est d'ailleurs spécialement destiné aux enfants), bien illustrée et ne se perdait pas dans de multiples détails ennuyeux pour le visiteur qui ne connaît rien du sujet traité.
