First of all, the rooms are 400-500 per night. This was all prepaid by the company. I got there after 17 hrs of travel at around 2100. The concierge asked me to pay a security deposit of 125CAD which I obliged. He failed to mention that they were going to take 125 CAD for five nights due to the long stay, so for 3 weeks I had 625CAD blocked off my card.
The water in the shower took ages to get hot, and not the level I expect from a hotel that charges as much as they do. The reception staff were consistently rude to me when I asked anything. On top of all that, they charge a 28.5 cad amenity fee. It’s a joke.
The breakfast was good and the staff there were super nice, but for that little I really think they need to do better.
I will avoid the hotel like plague. The sheraton were actually acknowledging that I am staying long and they upgraded my room upon check in, no additional amenity fees and the staff is super lovely, not responding in a snarky manner as if they’re doing me a favour to be talking to me in the first place. They also only charge 100 CAD as the entire security deposit, despite the long stay.
First, there was no attendant at the valet stand, and parking/navigation was somewhat confusing. Then, we had to wait a substantial amount when checking in. Now, I'll admit that it was fairly late at night (around 11 pm), but it was still very slow. The agent was nice enough, but unfortunately misinformed. He told me that because I booked my stay using my IGH Rewards, I was not eligible for any benefits. This is not the case (as you will find when you review IHG's terms). This meant that I did not receive any welcome amenities, was not considered for an upgrade, etc. He did grant me the late 2 pm checkout (which is weird, if he didn't think I was eligible for benefits). This was somewhat amended the next morning, when at checkout I inquired about this, and the staff member retroactively gave me bonus points (600 points) as my welcome amenity (which I would have definitely preferred the beverage credit/voucher since 600 points is literally nothing).
Anyways, the room was nice enough and the hotel is quite decent. The slowness of the check-in process as well as the poor training of the check-in agent, dings a star here, however.
Just don't look at him if you need a luggage storage. Go directly to the bell desk.
The bathroom products (shampoo/conditioner/wash/lotion) smelt/felt amazing. The room was equipped with perfect amenities from a lit vanity mirror in the bathroom to the complimentary abundance of coffee and tea. The bed was amazing and so comfortable. I visited the spa every day and Mimoza, who works there, is amazing, she went out of her way to make sure I was having a great experience. The saltwater hot tub and steam room are so nice, the spa area in general is just serenity inducing. The bar at Azure, the resto/bar within the hotel had amazing drinks and great customer service. The housekeeping staff was incredibly kind and caring. Concierge was also very helpful. The location of the hotel is awesome, in the heart of downtown next to as many attractions as you could think of… there’s a few near nice green spaces/parks + it’s close the water which I appreciated…coffee shops etc????????♀️????????♀️great for exploring the city. PS my room was also gorgeous!
The position for me is very good because very close to train station and not so far from downtown.
The room was fantastic, so clean, large, with all the comforts, with a super big bathroom and shower.
A very good thing for me is the sound insulation, you can’t hear a pin drop.
I haven’t try the gym, so I can’t give any comment.
The price at this time was good, reason of my booking, but normally the price is over the average.
So in conclusion is highly suggest for business trip!
Exceptional everything. I haven’t stayed at the Intercontinental in years and wondered if they still have an unbeatable standard, they certainly do. Hands down one of the best hotels in Toronto.
Keep up the great work.
Not reading the early cancelation fee in the documents was the only downside to this trip.
