QUEEN'S PARK
A green oasis on the University of Toronto campus, it offers a well-deserved break after visiting the ROM and Yorkville.
In the heart of the city, Queen's Park is especially popular with squirrels... and nap-goers, in the shadow of an equestrian statue of King Edward VII. The park, which gave its name to a street and a subway station, belonged to the University of Toronto, which gave it to the provincial government for the symbolic sum of one dollar per year for 999 years. The southern part of the park is home to the Ontario Legislative Assembly (provincial parliament), while the northern part has a British feel with its tall, mature trees and beautiful walkways.
