Castle that houses the Museum of Northern Mining History, now on the shores of Kirkland Lake.
Prospector Oakes' "castle" (called "Sir Harry Oakes Chateau") is home to the Museum of Mining and Northern History, which may have stood on the shores of Kirkland Lake today. There are family souvenirs, toys and mouldings that bear witness to the international experience of the discoverer. In addition, there are about ten temporary exhibitions that take turns throughout the year in the museum's galleries. Gift shop on site.
