Fort St. Joseph is a reminder of the commercial and military ties that existed between the British and the First Nations of the western Great Lakes region from the end of the War of Independence to the War of 1812. The site also includes a collection of archaeological remains which, in their undeveloped state, tell part of the story of the military, families and traders - Aboriginal and European - who lived at this remote border crossing.
