POTBELLY SANDWICH WORKS
Milk-shake, ice cream, chili con carne, smoothies (mix of ice, fruit and yogurt)… For a fast-food restaurant, the staff is very warm and the atmosphere pleasant. Musicians, usually solo guitarists who came to test their talent, play in the tiny mezzanine above the entrance. Located close to the Chicago River, this fast-food is part of the Potbelly chain, initiated in 1977 by a couple of antique dealers who decided to make the sandwiches for its employees to reduce their lunch time! Little by little, sandwiches attracted more world in antique shops than antiques. Result: Chicago now has twenty Potbelly restaurants, including Milwaukee, Madison and Minneapolis.
