This legendary bar frequented by Al Capone during Prohibition is one of the locals' favourite jazz clubs since 1917.
Legendary bar frequented by Al Capone during prohibition and one of the favorite jazz clubs of Chicagoans since 1917. Nothing or almost nothing has changed since then. Thursday night is swing night; other days it's really good jazz. Al Capone used to sit in the back seats of the room, facing the entrance, to watch the comings and goings. Concealed under the seats of some of the sofas, tunnels were even dug to connect the Green Mill to the Aragon and Riviera theaters, and thus supply the bars with alcohol.
