Festival celebrating the defeat of the French in 1862 in Mexico with a parade, traditional costumes and music.

Contrary to what is often heard, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's national holiday, although this event is even more popular! It is in fact a Mexican festival celebrating the defeat of the French in 1862 in Mexico. A colourful parade takes place in Pilsen (home to the city's largest Mexican community) where the party is in full swing. Costumes, music, flags... Mexican restaurants in the city often offer special menus for the occasion. Get ready to party!
