Von Steuben German Day is to the Germans what St. Patrick's Day is to the Irish... admittedly a little less popular. This German festival celebrates Baron Friedrich Von Steuben, who came to the United States to serve in George Washington's army. Parades with costumes and music are organized on Western Avenue. The festival is an opportunity for the German-American community to celebrate its heritage.
