On the occasion of the Irish festival, a big parade is organized, everyone wears green and the atmosphere is very festive!
On the occasion of Irish St. Patrick's Day, the waters of the Chicago River are dyed apple green, usually around 9am. The colour will dissipate after a few hours! A very large parade, very much followed by the local population, takes place on the previous Saturday. Everybody dresses in green and Irish pubs stay busy until very late at night. This is one of the most festive events of the year.
