SHEDD AQUARIUM
The world's largest aquarium in a Beaux-Arts style building with local aquatic life nearby.
Opened in 1930 in a Beaux-Arts style building, it is one of the largest aquariums in the world. Cross the moist and deafening fauna of the Amazon, where the prehistoric turtles mata mata mata, the impressive anaconda and the dangerous piranhas reign supreme. Then head for the peaceful Caribbean Reef where hundreds of multicoloured fish swim, followed by harmless little sharks and sometimes a few medical divers. A few metres away, you will discover the local aquatic fauna, especially the fish of Lake Michigan.
