THE MANHATTAN BUILDING
Building built on the model of the skyscraper after the advent of the metal structure, designed by William Le Baron Jenney.
Designed by William Le Baron Jenney in 1891, sixteen stories high, it was one of the first buildings to be built on the model of the skyscraper after the advent of the metal structure. The façade has taken advantage of the advantages offered by this new process: it has huge windows, while the first floors have much more space than the brick buildings. The builder's pride in metal construction can be seen in the thickness of the steel beam that runs the entire length of the building above the entrance.
