THE MARQUETTE BUILDING
Beautiful lobby with large mosaics inside benefiting from a structure of metal beams and columns.
The Marquette Building is a perfect testimony to the golden age of the Chicago School of Architecture, led by Louis Sullivan, Frank Lloyd Wright and the two Marquette Building architects, among others. Designed by the architectural firm Holabird & Roche and built in 1894, it features a structure of metal beams and columns, the design of which can be clearly seen from the outside. In the superb lobby, admire the large mosaics by Edward Kemeys, commemorating Marquette's historic voyage and encounter with the Native Americans.
