197 m high modern-style skyscraper, east of Lake Shore Drive, with 70 floors in a Y-shape
At 197 metres, Lake Point Tower is the only skyscraper built east of Lake Shore Drive. It was made between 1965 and 1968 by a student of Mies Van Der Rohe. It has seventy floors and a Y-shape that would have inspired Adrian Smith, the architect behind the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, born in Chicago. Located at the entrance to Navy Pier, this modern-style building houses superb apartments. Among the residents, the tower has seen celebrities such as Kurt Russell, Alice Cooper and Joakim Noah pass through.
