FISHER BUILDING
Building as high in Chicago with avant-garde architecture housing luxury condos
Commissioned by Lucas Fisher, who made his fortune in the paper industry, the Fisher Building was built by architect Daniel Burnham in 1896. Chicago had never seen a building so high. The interest of the Fisher Building lies in its architectural avant-gardism, the salmon colour of its cladding and the detail of the decorative motifs close to the entrance - a mesh of fish, shells and crabs, a nod to the sponsor Fisher (fish is called "fish" in English). Since 2013, this building has housed luxury condos (apartments).
