Still active lighthouse ideal for guiding boats sailing on Lake Michigan offering a cruise to approach it
Built for the 1893 Universal Exposition, the Chicago Lighthouse was moved to its current location in 1919. This may sound surprising, but it is still active today and guides boats sailing on Lake Michigan and seeking to join the Chicago Harbor. To be able to get close to it, it is best to board a boat for a cruise. Shoreline Sightseeing offers this type of excursion.
