THE FIELD MUSEUM
A T-Rex, specimens preserved through the centuries and real mummies await you in this natural history museum.
Entering the Field Museum, you come face to face with one of Chicago's greatest stars: Sue, the largest and most complete T-Rex ever discovered. We don't know if it was a female. Its name comes from Sue Hendrickson, who discovered the 90% intact skeleton in Dakota in 1990. Its skull is not original, its 250 kg cannot be attached to the rest of the body. The original head is on the first floor, in a glass cage. And that's not the only surprise you'll find. Immerse yourself in the fascinating - and macabre - universe of Egyptian tombs and immerse yourself in the belief that the body must be preserved to protect the soul from the dead. A few real mummies await you at the bend of an underground tunnel.... Also discover some superb specimens preserved in the various galleries, such as this giant gorilla, a resident, during his lifetime, from the Lincoln Zoo Park, or even the majestic lions of Tsavo, man-eaters. The Field Museum is one of the largest natural history museums in the world. More than seventy researchers work here every day, and more than two million pieces, some of them several million years old, are stored in the basements of the Field Museum. So what we are visiting is only the tip of the iceberg - on three levels, after all. A large and beautiful museum, whose temporary exhibitions are constantly being renewed - during our visit, we could discover the existence of bioluminescent organisms.
