JACKSON PARK
Chicago park with a gilded bronze statue in the center, a Japanese garden and bird watching trails
Originally known as South Park, the park hosted the 1893 World's Fair and its more than 27 million visitors. The gilded bronze statue at its center, known as the Statue of the Republic, is a smaller replica of the statue installed in the park during the World's Fair, which was destroyed in a fire - another one! Today, the park is home to the Museum of Science and Industry, the Japanese garden Garden of the Phoenix and bird-watching trails.
