ADLER PLANETARIUM
Chicago's oldest planetarium developed for the military and researchers suggesting an exciting and immersive visit.
A trip through our galaxy amidst planets, stars and meteorites is something you'd like to do? Adler was the first planetarium built in North America. Architecturally speaking, it consists of twelve faces representing the signs of the zodiac, each face being engraved with a different sign. Every year, it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors who come to explore the depths of our galaxies and solar system. Make your own crater - yes, you do - and measure its width; let yourself be seduced by the sphere of Atwood, Chicago's oldest planetarium, developed in 1913 for the army and researchers; or decipher our solar system and learn how the "Mars Rover", a device specially designed to explore the planet Mars, works. Interactive terminals punctuate your visit in all rooms. In the basement, the exhibition "Bringing the Heavens to Earth" presents the different cultures that have tried to unravel the mysteries of the sky and understand their place in the great system of the universe. Finally, the two large movie theatres, the Sky Theater on the first floor and the Star Rider in the basement in 3D, change their programming according to the seasons. Everything is done to make the theme of space accessible to all. An exciting and immersive visit, which will not only please children! Finally, stop by the cafeteria for a muffin and enjoy the splendid view of Navy Pier and North Chicago.
