When to go Chicago ?
Temperature differences between the different regions of the Great Lakes can be significant. Summers are hot and humid, but the closer you get to the lakes, the more their temperature-regulating effect is felt. Autumn brings pleasant temperatures until late October and a delightful Indian summer. In winter, the further north you go, the colder it gets. Every winter, the " lake effect " deposits astronomical quantities of snow on the shores of the lakes.
Chicago is constantly influenced by its proximity to Lake Michigan and enjoys a continental climate. The wind that blows through the city on a regular basis feels like a refreshing breeze on hot summer days, but can be bitterly cold on frigid winter days. Generally speaking, Chicago's temperatures are extreme in both winter (sometimes as low as -25°C and almost always snow) and summer (up to 40°C in July).
