HARLEY DAVIDSON MUSEUM
Huge museum on the Menomonee River hosting a tour to see legendary motorcycle models up close.
It's impossible to miss the mythical Harleys during a stay in Milwaukee. They are everywhere in the streets and the surrounding countryside, roaring proudly. For lovers of well-designed curves and straight lines, here's your chance to get a close look at these legendary cars. It was here in Milwaukee that the first Harley left the factory, here that the Sportster and Buell models are now built. In this gigantic museum, set on the Menomonee River, you can see hundreds of models, from different periods, that retrace American fashions and history. It also tells of the reputation of bad boys of motorcyclists, through excerpts from legendary films, Easy Rider in mind. A visit that exemplifies the expression of unfettered freedom that Harley Davidson cultivates. The construction of the complex, which includes three buildings on 12,000 square metres, will have cost $75 million.
For the record, in 2004, Milwaukee celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Harley Davidson Company. More than fifteen thousand motorcyclists with bandanas on their heads landed in the city. It was literally everywhere. All the hotel rooms in the city and the surrounding area were taken. Some had had to rely on rooms so far away that they had to drive more than 200 km to be able to attend the Milwaukee festivities. But when you love... Proof that Milwaukee has always been a biker's paradise and an emblematic place for Harley Davidson fans!
