BAILEYS HARBOR RANGE LIGHTS
Automated red and white lighthouse still in operation at Bailey's Harbor, listed on the U.S. Register of Historic Places.
Built in 1869 and automated in 1923, this red and white lighthouse is actually the union of two lighthouses (Upper Range Light and Lower Range Light). When ships entered Baileys Harbor, the only reliable way to avoid the pitfalls was to align the two lighthouses. The ships knew they were in safe waters. Baileys Harbor Range Lights is one of the last remaining examples of its kind. Since 1989, it has been listed on the U.S. Register of Historic Places.
