GOVERNOR NELSON STATE PARK
Park overlooking the white Capitol dome across from Madison with several hiking trails up to 2.4 miles long.
Governor Nelson State Park is located just across from Madison and its Capitol on the north shore of Lake Mendota. In fact, when the weather is clear, you can see the pretty white dome of the Capitol from the park. Inaugurated in 1975, it is one of the favorite places of the inhabitants during the beautiful days. Madisonians love to come and stretch their legs in its vast expanses of reconstructed prairie. It is home to several hiking trails up to 2.4 miles long.
