STATE STREET
The liveliest street in Madison, it was the scene of some great student protests.
State Street is the liveliest street in Madison. Pedestrian, it connects the Capitol to the university, and therefore proves to be conducive to beautiful demonstrations whenever students want to protest. On several occasions, they found themselves on the steps of the Capitol to denounce, criticize, and try to influence decisions. Nor is it Berkeley, but it is certain that such a high concentration of students in a capital city influences local political life. During the Vietnam War, for example, Madison was a major site of protest.
