Purcell Cutts House, located near Lake of the Isles, is one of the most representative examples of the Prairie period
Located near the Lake of the Isles, this house is one of the most representative examples of the Prairie Period. It was designed by the architect William Gray Purcell and built with the help of his partner George Grant in 1913. Both were influenced by the work of Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright: the house follows Wright's principles of construction with its horizontal lines, flat roof and second-floor band of windows. The house is in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
