PUMP HOUSE
Former Mississippi River pumping station used as an art gallery, concert and theater venue.
The Pump House is a former Mississippi River water pumping station, built in 1880 as a water reserve in case of fire. The building, which has been renovated several times and classified as a historic monument in 1979, retains a few reminders of its former life: the two door leaves at the entrance are from the former Court of Justice; the balustrades on the second floor are from the former post office. The wooden ceiling is original. Today, it serves as an art gallery and, in its small Dayton Theatre, as a venue for concerts and theatrical performances.
