GLENSHEEN
British style house on the shore of Lake Superior, turned into a museum in 1979 with a collection of original furniture
Mr. Chester Congdon had this imposing British-style home built in 1908 on the shore of Lake Superior. It was donated to the University of Duluth in 1968 and became a museum in 1979. Glensheen's special feature is its collection of original furniture dating back to 1908. She was also a witness to the murder of Elizabeth (daughter of Chester who had inherited the house), who was suffocated in her sleep, and of the nurse. The daughter of the deceased and her husband were accused for a long time before being acquitted. The crime to date has still not been solved.
