Imagined in the early 1970 s, in service in 1999, the Tehran metro now has three lines, the 1 north/south, 2 west, line 5 (actually a train) to the west. Lines 3 and 4 are currently planned. Those who will take the metro will take time and benefit from the stations, some of which are decorated with magnificent works of art. Foreigners who are lost in the subway are quickly on the right road by the people's unfailing solicitude. The Tehran metro runs daily from 6 am to 23 pm.
