STADE AZADI
West of Tehran is the largest stadium in the country, with a capacity of 90 000 places to host sports competitions (football mainly). It dates back to 1974 and is part of the Azadi sports complex. Iran's national team is evolving, as are two Iranian clubs: Pirouzi Tehran and Esteghlal Tehran.
The Azadi complex, for its part, stretches over 450 hectares west of Tehran, and includes (in addition to the stadium) a 2 700-seat velodrome, a swimming pool, a basketball (or volleyball), a motor vehicle, a motorcycle-cross circuit, a equestrian centre, a go circuit, a baseball field, a baseball field, and many. Multi-sport training grounds. Mixing is not on the agenda: men and women each have their own slots.
