REZA ABBASSI MUSEUM
Reza Abbasi (1565-1635) was actually one of the greatest artists of the time safavide and exercised mainly under the reign of Shah Abbas the Great. His extraordinary talent as a miniaturist made it an elected election to name the museum inaugurated in 1977, at the time of the Shah, by the Empress itself.
The exceptional quality of the collections - from the millennium before our era at the beginning of the twentieth century - and the wide variety of objects presented, make it one of the most interesting museums in Tehran. Neolithic potteries are the main part of the prehistory collection, but there are also many metal pieces from different archeological excavations of the country as well as, even older, many stone tools.
The collections of the Preislamic and Islamic periods testify to the great richness of the Persian civilization and the knowledge acquired and improved over the centuries. If your time is counted, make sure you do not miss the beautiful gold jewelry from the Medes and Achémenides. Finely cut and cistered, they illustrate the perfect master's degree from antiquity. You can also linger on the beautiful collection of miniatures, entrances and calligraphies, with of course many parts of Reza Abbassi. The section devoted to Islamic art, with its bronzes, its ceramics and ceramics is equally beautiful.
Finally in the other rooms you will be able to expand your field of knowledge with textile parts, including silhouettes, nicely adorned low reliefs, decorated manuscripts and wall frescoes. The museum's fonds is complemented by a library entirely dedicated to Persian arts, which you can find some interesting translations in the small shop at the entrance that sells books in English, French and German.
