MAUSOLEUM OF AVICENNA (ARAMGAH-E BUALI SINA)
Built in 1954, this mausoleum is inspired by the ancient funeral tower of Gonbad-e Member in Gorgan, in northeastern Iran. Twelve granite columns support a conical roof overhanging the burial hall, decorated with inscriptions reminiscent of the work of the "Prince of Philosophers". The tomb of a faithful, Abu Said Kaduh, parallels that of the master. Also seen inside, the huge carpets, marquetry, library and the small museum dedicated to the life and work of July (980-1037). The terrace offers a beautiful view of Hamdan and the square is always black. The great July (Bou Ali Sina) is one of the most famous philosophers, physicists and scholars of medieval Persia. Born near Bukhara and died in Hamdan, he reveals his Genius very young. Famous at the age of 17, he healed a prince samanid who called him to his bedside. Asked by the Prince of Hamdan, he advises him before entering the service of the prince of Isfahan, who was conquered by Ghaznevide Massoud in 1030. The looting of the city results in the disappearance of its huge encyclopedia (twenty volumes), which only fragments will be saved or reconstituted by the author. Its five-volume medicine treaty, translated into Latin, will exert considerable influence on medical practices until the th century, both in the East and in the West. Nearly 57 books are awarded to him dealing with subjects as diverse as metaphysics, mechanics, acoustics, astronomy or geometry.
