RELIGIOUS COMPLEX SOME-E BAYAZID BASTAMI

Two tombs, a mosque and a iwan are located in the heart of the same enclosure. Ghazan Khan, the first king of Mongolian origin converted to Islam in the early th century (1295-1304), a member of the Ilkhanid dynasty and descendant of Genghis Khan, will build this complex at the end of his reign. Let's remember the iwan that is dedicated to it, a mixture of stucco, brick and earthenware. Note the swastikas in turquoise blue ceramics - a cosmic symbol of Indian origin, unfortunately hijacked by the Nazi regime - the finesse of work and the excellent general conservation. Further afield, the mausoleum of Sheikh Bayazid Bastami (mystic philosopher of the th century) is used with his conical dome of ceramic. The mosque and the Mohammad mausoleum also testify to selçuk and ilkhanid art. See, in particular, the beautiful wooden door and the beautiful mihrab stucco of the th century.
