The BLMK was born in 2017 from the merger of the dkw. Kunstmuseum Dieselkraftwerk Cottbus and the Museum Junge Kunst Frankfurt (Oder). This merger brought together two independent and complementary museum collections to form the most comprehensive museum resource for art in the GDR. Surprisingly located in a former thermal power station of expressionist architecture, this excellent museum is resolutely invested in 20th century and contemporary art.
