PARK BRANITZ
A pretty English park in Cottbus with forests, clearings, lakes and even pyramids of earth.
Branitzer Park, in the south-east of Cottbus, is a beautiful English-style park with forests, clearings and lakes. It owes its name to the baroque castle (Branitzer Schloss) which is located there. The most surprising thing about the park is the presence of the pyramids of earth, which is unique in Germany. The park's fantastical landscaping is the result of Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau's imagination, who also created the beautiful Park Babelsberg in Potsdam. The museum inside the castle traces his life in beautifully preserved rooms.
